Soul Searching...

Hey guys,

I'm sorry I've been away for so long. It wasn't planned. However, I do now plan to be away for a little bit longer. I'm currently doing some soul searching. I'll still be around from time to time, but I won't be posting much, if at all over the next few months. Hopefully I'll be back to blogging in the new year.

Thanks to Unveilinggold, Toinlicious, and MsTizzle for your comments on my last post. Didn't mean to be away for so long. Be back as soon as I can.

Thanks everyone for continuing to follow my blog. Really appreciate you all.

I'll be back!

Stay blessed!

Hello...

Hello guys,

Hope everybody's been doing great!

I've been extremely busy over the last couple of months. Particularly from mid-May until recently.

My baby boy turned 10 earlier this month and I did it big. Well, as big as my cloth could cut it. Lol.

I took him and a few of his friends go-karting. They had fun, I cringed from the sidelines. The things boys love ey?

We then had a party/bbq to celebrate with family and friends. It Was so much fun. He had an awesome time. So much so that the next day he declared we would throw a party like it every year. I laughed. As for me, until he turns 16, I no do again o. No be small ting. Lol.

One of the funniest things was when we did the Pinata. It all started out as such a civilised event, but once that pinata was burst open it was a scramble. My brother and I initially tried to use our authoritative voices to call the children to order, after about 2 seconds of realising it wasn't going to happen, we jejelly moved ourselves out of harms way. I turned around only to find one of my friends on top of some of the kids joining in the scramble and grabbing as many sweets as she could. Smh. We couldn't believe it. It was such a funny sight.

The other highlight was when we played Dance Central on XBox. I was giving it large so my friend challenged me. She's a much better dancer than me. Thankfully, I beat her. Hahaha! Phew! Then Lil Man showed everyone what he gats! The room was silent. You see, my boy can come across as shy. He's a quiet and gentle person. But when he's doing something he loves, all that falls to the side. He danced his behind off. Everybody was just standing watching and saying, is that how he's going on? Lol. I just smiled.

We'll, that's all for now. Just thought I'd give a reason for my absence. Will try to get it together now and get back to blogging more regularly.

Left to right, top to bottom: My son and I, his birthday cake (courtesy of my sister - aunty Debs), My sister Kemi, lil man in his go-karting gear, cup cakes, lil man drinking J2O, my sister Debs, and yours truly.

Before I go, can I just have a little moan about the weather here in the UK? I just wanna say: rain rain go away, we've had enough, let the sun come out and play. Pretty please, with a cherry on top. I keep looking for Noah's arc. Lol.

Until next time.

Happy Fathers Day!

It's Fathers Day over here in the UK. First I want to elevate the Father of ALL fathers! I Baba God! The Big G HIMSELF -JEHOVAH! Then I want to wish the one through whom I came a happy Fathers Day! Popsi, I love you! Then my wonderful Pastors for teaching how to be more like Him (God). Pastor "Rams", you're the man!

I also want to wish all the fathers, that are present and accounted for and for leading the way. You are so very much appreciated. My pastor preached about fatherhood today and one profound thing he said was that "every father is a teacher or an instructor, but not every teacher or instructor is a father". A teacher instructs, but a father gives guidance. He gives of himself. I commend all the fathers out there giving of themselves. You are appreciated!

And finally, to all the men still to father one day. May you be a father that gives. An example and a leader.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY ONE AND ALL!!!

Just SMILE!

Hello lovely, lovely, lovely people!!!

Hope you're all having a truly blessed week. I know I promised a 'proper' post soon, and I will deliver...soon. Lol.

I first of all want to thank all you lovely people who've been checking up on me, and expressing your concern for me whenever I comment on your posts. You are so appreciated. I am absolutely fine. Done licking my wounds and moving onwards and upwards. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. So the fact that I'm still here, means I'm not dead, therefore I must be stronger.

I have a wonderful family around me and some truly AMAZING friends. Slowly, slowly, they've helped pull me out of my funk. And I'm gradually returning to 'normal'. Lol. I thank God for everything.

Welcome to my new followers friends. I appreciate you all, new and old. Mwah!

I came across this Kirk Franklin video for a song called Smile. I think this is actually the second video he made for the same song. This second video made me literally laugh out loud! I love what he's done with this video and the  tribute to Coming to America (my absolute favourite movie!!!). ENJOY!!!

Hahahahahahaha! Did you notice the 'Sol Glo' bit? Now, to my UK peeps, over the age of 30, don't you think he looks like Mr Fraser from The Real McCoy from back in the day??? Please say somebody can relate.

Also love the 'heavenly chocolate, HEAVENLY CHOCOLATE!!' part. Hahahahaha. This video was satisfyingly funny.

Oh sweet nostalgia!

Hope you enjoyed.

Enjoy the rest of your week you wonderful people!!!

Stirring Up The Gift!

Have you ever watched a dancer dance? I mean really dance an emotional piece? Until it brought you to the point of tears? I know, it's really something isn't it? I was watching Dance Scene with Laurieann Gibson. There's a young aspiring dancer who is new to the team. Laurieann keeps going on and on about her not expressing enough soul or emotion in her dancing. To the point that even I was getting irritated by Laurieann. Then one day something snapped inside this young dancer. She let loose. When she performed in front of an audience she completely stole the show. It was like she was the only one on the stage. She brought me to tears.

Then I got to thinking about my own gifts. Just a few days ago I was whining and complaining that I have no "real" gifts. I couldn't see anything about myself that really makes me stand apart from the next person. Nothing special. Know what I mean? Ever get that feeling?

Well, after watching this young lady dance her heart out it brought me back to life (back to reality - Soul II Soul - whoop whoop! Lol). We all have a gift that sets us apart from the next person. The only difference between perhaps me and that young lady is she's actually walking in hers. I mean really walking in hers.

What I love to do more than anything else is sing. I've always done. Problem is I lack the confidence to really let it rip in front of other people. When I'm at home I sing my heart out like you wouldn't believe. My son has come running to me a few times, asking "mum, was that you?". Lol. So there has to be something there right? So what's holding me back?

I remember I've had a few knock backs. A friend once said "you need to take singing lessons". In my sensitivity, I took offence. But realistically, the best of the best always sharpen their craft. Another said, "Shhhh, I'm trying to listen to 'so and so' sing, her voice is amazing!". Those two comments stick out in my thoughts like thorns. I have let these two comments hold me back for long enough. Not everyone is going to like my voice. Not everyone will appreciate your gift. But, so what?! They're not your creator. God's placed gifts inside all of us that He wishes to enjoy. He wants to see us shine. He wants to enjoy the show too na. Lol. So why do we let others hinder us? What others say and what they think?

A lot of the time the people who are so quick to criticise wouldn't dare let their own gifts shine for fear of being criticised too. So why allow them to put you in bondage?

I'm actually in my Church's Praise and Worship team. Everytime a team leader wants to push me to the front I recoil. I was leading Praise and Worship during midweek services for a while, and I was starting to build some confidence. Then one day I hit one wrong note and my voice cracked a bit, then I was like "uhn uhn, I ain't doing this no more! I have an anointing to be a backing singer.". Hahaha! That was fear talking. Got to stop fear stopping me from excelling.

How about you? Have you had a similar exprience? If so, how have you overcome your fears? Or what are you doing about it?

Let's not hide our lights under a bushel. Mark 4:21 Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand? Matthew 5:15 -16...and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

So, I am going to give my gifts my all. My singing, my cooking, my parenting, my home-making, my career. I'm going to give them all my all. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Romans 11:29. That means once God gives, He NEVER takes back. So why not appreciate Him and the gifts he's given us by using them and using them well to glorify Him? I think that's fair.

Please note this post is a note to self. But please be encouraged too.

God Bless you.

Can't Give Up Now!

In life things can get really rough. Life can take unexpected turns. You can get so frustrated because you NEVER seem to arrive. Sometimes it feels like every time you take one step forward, you take another ten steps backwards. You can look at your life and say to yourself "how did I get here???" Or, "where to now???" (Questions I've been asking myself a lot lately!). Jesus said in John 16:33 - In the world ye shall have tribulations: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

So a) the battle isn't ours , He said He has overcome the world. And b) the battle has already been won, He said He has overcome the world. So we've got to remember to be thankful for every new day. The mere fact that we're here to experience anything, good or bad, is reason enough to give thanks. Because we still have a fighting chance. Because we live to fight another day. Or better still, just remember He's already done all the fighting for us. So we just need to give Him thanks.

Sometimes I want to quit! Sometimes I just want to run and hide, then I have to remind myself of all that I have to be thankful for. I have to remember how far I've come in life. Yes, I've not arrived - but to be honest no one ever really does. And yes, there's always room for improvement and I can do better. But, things aren't as bad as the devil would have me believe. You know why? I'm still here. Still alive, still got breath in me. So I've got to, I've just got to keep going. I haven't come this far just to quit here and now. Success could be just around the next corner.

I love this song!

Thank You Jesus!

Justice for Trayvon Martin

I HATE injustice like you wouldn't believe!

If you've not heard the story of Trayvon Martin, please check out this link.

On February 26 2012, 17 year old Trayvon Martin was walking back home from the shops and on his way back home was shot dead by a man named George Zimmerman - a neighbourhood watchman. The full details of the incident have not been released as yet, but what is known includes the fact that Zimmerman made the 911 call and was asked if he was following the youth. He answered yes. He was then told not to follow him. Martin was unarmed. Zimmerman shot him in the chest and Trayvon Martin died at the scene. Zimmerman claimed self-defense and he has NOT been arrested.

The outrage is so huge that it's even hit our news over here in the UK. And rightly so. When I heard this news I literally cried. I was so moved by it that I woke up the following morning thinking of how his family, his mother must feel. They even played the recording of the murderer's 911 call. You could hear Trayvon crying and screaming then a single shot. Then you couldn't hear him anymore. That's the point I wanted to throw up.

I really hope and pray that justice prevails in this case. It absolutely disgusts me that this man is still walking free. As if the boys life was worthless. I am so disgusted by this.

This injustice reminds me of that of the Stephen Lawrence story.

I said all that to say, please sign the petition.

My heart goes out to his family. My prayers and thoughts are with them.

God bless peeps!
