Hello lovely, lovely, lovely people!!!

Hope you're all having a truly blessed week. I know I promised a 'proper' post soon, and I will deliver...soon. Lol.

I first of all want to thank all you lovely people who've been checking up on me, and expressing your concern for me whenever I comment on your posts. You are so appreciated. I am absolutely fine. Done licking my wounds and moving onwards and upwards. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. So the fact that I'm still here, means I'm not dead, therefore I must be stronger. 

I have a wonderful family around me and some truly AMAZING friends. Slowly, slowly, they've helped pull me out of my funk. And I'm gradually returning to 'normal'. Lol. I thank God for everything.

I came across this Kirk Franklin video for a song called Smile. I think this is actually the second video he made for the same song. This second video made me literally laugh out loud! I love what he's done with this video and the  tribute to Coming to America (my absolute favourite movie!!!). ENJOY!!!

Hahahahahahaha! Did you notice the 'Sol Glo' bit? Now, to my UK peeps, over the age of 30, don't you think he looks like Mr Fraser from The Real McCoy from back in the day??? Please say somebody can relate.

Also love the 'heavenly chocolate, HEAVENLY CHOCOLATE!!' part. Hahahahaha. This video was satisfyingly funny.

Can't Give Up Now!

In life things can get really rough. Life can take unexpected turns. You can get so frustrated because you NEVER seem to arrive. Sometimes it feels like every time you take one step forward, you take another ten steps backwards. You can look at your life and say to yourself "how did I get here???" Or, "where to now???" (Questions I've been asking myself a lot lately!). Jesus said in John 16:33 - In the world ye shall have tribulations: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

So a) the battle isn't ours , He said He has overcome the world. And b) the battle has already been won, He said He has overcome the world. So we've got to remember to be thankful for every new day. The mere fact that we're here to experience anything, good or bad, is reason enough to give thanks. Because we still have a fighting chance. Because we live to fight another day. Or better still, just remember He's already done all the fighting for us. So we just need to give Him thanks.

Sometimes I want to quit! Sometimes I just want to run and hide, then I have to remind myself of all that I have to be thankful for. I have to remember how far I've come in life. Yes, I've not arrived - but to be honest no one ever really does. And yes, there's always room for improvement and I can do better. But, things aren't as bad as the devil would have me believe. You know why? I'm still here. Still alive, still got breath in me. So I've got to, I've just got to keep going. I haven't come this far just to quit here and now. Success could be just around the next corner.

I'm so sorry it's been a while. Been so busy with little man going back to school and myself going back to work. I've only been paying blogville a quick visit here and there.

Asa - Beautiful Imperfection

I went to see Asa in concert over a week ago, been meaning to write a review on her concert since then. Better late than never I guess. 

It was the launch of her second album - Asa - Beautiful Imperfection, on April 4th 2011 @ The Barbican in London.

Well, what can I say? I thought she was amazing! She has a voice like no other, enchanting to say the least. I thoroughly enjoyed her show. I was captivated the whole time, not wanting to blink or be interrupted for fear of missing even a second.

I went to the concert with my aunt (and friend) and friend (her daughter). We were actually late being seated because we were trying to get an extra ticket as we had only bought two tickets in the first place. When we finally got in Asa was singing Bimpe - which has to be my favourite song on her latest album, just because of the Nigerian attitude that comes through. I love it! I love the fact that her albums have both English and Yoruba songs on them. My favorites (from both albums) include Why Can't We, Bimpe, Ore, Preacher Man, Fire On The Mountain, Jailer, to name a few. In fact, there isn't a song on either of her albums that I don't like. She performed all of the above (except Ore - which I was really hoping she would sing, but never mind). 

She also sang a beautiful song in French, I had no idea what she was talking about, but it sounded beautiful. My favorite part of the concert was when she sang Bamidele, which she finished off with a traditional tribal dance, which was just amazing. All the Nigerians (and I dare say all the Africans) in the auditorium gave her a standing ovation at the end of her dance.

My final thoughts? I look forward to seeing Asa in concert again. It was a rather intimate affair held at The Barbican, which to be honest is the best way to see her. I think she was very engaging through out. Her band was brilliant, and it was a very well orchestrated gig. Each song was exciting, and I excitedly anticipated the next song.
